Jake and Charlotte – Virginia Beach Wedding

Sunday, Charlotte and Jake got married down at the oceanfront in a small private ceremony. Jake is deploying this weekend overseas so they decided to tie the knot now… and then have their full on wedding in the fall after he returns. I had so much fun on this one and can’t wait to see what else they have in store for next fall, as I’ll be shooting that wedding as well.

We really were blessed on Sunday. The weather all week was threatening horribleness. Sunday was GORGEOUS however! Wouldn’t you know that when we got back over towards little creek after we finished it was SOAKED as it had poured! Go figure today it’s all cold and dreary again!

We, and by we I mean Charlotte, Jake, the officiant and I (along with their puppy Jaeger) – met down at the water for the intimate ceremony. Afterwards, we had so much fun taking pictures. I was feeling really giddy on the inside all evening… I knew we were rocking out the portraits, but in uploading them that night, I could no longer contain my excitement! I’ve been itching and dying to get these out on the blog! I mean, for real…. check these out!

Jaeger was pretty excited to see Charlotte. She hadn’t seen her all afternoon! She makes an appearance throughout the rest of the blog, see if you can spot her.

And, Of course an outtake from the evening :-)

And of course, this is the one I taunted many with! I’m seriously so stoked about the below image. For more info on it, see the blog post right below this one.

Charlotte mentioned that she loved that she felt I was “up for anything.” It’s true, I am… but when my clients take dares and go to the extremes…. like their willingness to get soaked by 40 degree ocean water in March… it really pays off.

Don’t forget, this is officially the last post where you can comment to donate $1 to Haiti.

Alex’s Bridal Session – Portsmouth, VA

Alex and I met up before the wedding for a bridal session in her 2nd gown. We’re going to do a fearless session with her main gown so we set out before the actual wedding for some great shots of her other one. We had a blast and I don’t get to post a lot of bridals on here because we don’t want people to see them to early ;-) Now that the weddings over I thought you’d enjoy a brief selection of images.

Michael and Alison – Virginia Beach – Founders Inn and Spa

It’s been quite some time since Alison and Michael appeared on the blog. With a hectic work schedule as well as being 2 full time students at Regent University… It was now or never on one of the few breaks they had… and they still had to take a break from moving! We had been rained out earlier in the week during a storm and power outage and we finished shooting as the lightning and thunder came barreling into Virginia Beach causing power outages and insanity. It was nice to see them again, however, and we had a lot of fun going all over Regent University taking their portraits.

I’m actually going to start with one of my favorites today… It’s very subtle… a bit abstract, but there’s just something about it that I love.

The next few images may be pretty similar, but different in their own way and I still love them all ;-)

Rhoda and John

I met Rhoda during our consult earlier this year, and I remember leaving and just thinking, wow, I “REALLY REALLY hope I get this.” After getting engaged on a windy day, I guess it made sense that Sunday there was gusts of about 30 MPH (although, the brief bit we were outside I would have thought they were stronger.) It was obviously a very heartbreaking decision to have to move the wedding indoors but we still had an amazing and beautiful day! After all, it looked beautiful from the inside… but that wind! My goodness! After the ceremony Rhoda was really wanting to get outside for some photos… so we did! I kicked off my faithful… yet cute and stylish… crocs (yes, those exist) but they started to blow away! SO… they stayed on my feet as we ventured into the sand. Some strategic placement of his hand to hold down her hair and veil, and 5 min later we were done! Whew, it was intense, but worth it, I think we got some great images out of it!

The rest of the evening went off without a hitch. Rhoda told me during the consult that to her, the most important thing was the cake. Well, it too was of course, perfect! In the end, it was a great cap to a great weekend! 2 weddings, 2 days…. I’ve been in bed since ;-) jk

Enjoy!

Dana’s Bridal

Let me tell you, I am getting so excited for Dana’s upcoming wedding! I first met Dana during another clients wedding and have really enjoyed working with her. Dana came out with her mom and maid of honor (and her dog) to Regent University for her Bridal Portraits. I always love shooting at Regent, and I do it a LOT!

Dana gave me permission to post her bridals as we don’t think the husband to be has any idea how to access the blog ;-)

Dana, your dress is amazing and worth all the hassle you went through for it! I had a blast shooting with you and can’t wait to show you the rest of your pictures! I think I may have to post even more later… Here’s a preview!
