Things to Remember on your Wedding Day…

I get to see and learn a lot about weddings when you are an intricate part of one every week…. So, I saw something happen this wedding season I don’t want to see happen to anyone else… so I’m putting it here on my blog in hopes I can save at least one person the stress…..

MAKE SURE YOUR PASTOR/MINISTER HAS YOUR WEDDING LICENSE!

Or, if they do not require it before the actual wedding day for their files make sure it is brought to the wedding site.

Also, if possible, choose a minister you know…

Here’s the backstory…. At a wedding I did the poor bride was already stressed about how the minister was saying he’d leave if they were more than 15 min. late…. So… she was stressed when she was ready but not everything else was. When she made it to the location of the ceremony (15 min late ;-) ) the pastor then decided to ask the groom… who had been there… with him for at least 30 min if not more…. to see the license… which was at home… on a shelf.

At that point as the bride is about to walk down the aisle the minister basically says the wedding is off, he can’t do it… he has to see the license to do it. Then, as a “fellow vendor” let me just say he was incredibly rude and unprofessional in his “dialogue” with the bride and groom about the matter as if he never wanted to be there anyways. After being incredibly unhelpful, waiting another 40 minutes, and finally accepting a photo of it via cell phones after a guest left the wedding to run to the house across the city to get it… the wedding happened as planned.

Lesson: As much as people joke about making sure you have the rings…. include the license with it. ;-)
