Gwen and David

I was very excited to get to go up to Baltimore for the wedding of Gwen and David. Gwen’s sister Sharyn got married last fall in DC and I had been very blessed to have been given the opportunity to 2nd shoot for the amazing, international award winning, ANNE RUTHMANN! Little did I know that Sharyn’s sister Gwen was going to be soon engaged herself… and I’d be asked to shoot her wedding!

The trek up north was beautiful as we got to see the gradual change from the green Virginia Beach to the orange and red of Baltimore. After a restful night we met up with Gwen as she checked in to the Beautiful Hilton BWI to get ready as well as checking in on David getting ready with his children. The day flew by in a blur and soon enough we were at the Elkridge Furnace Inn for the ceremony and reception. From start to finish it was an incredible and beautiful evening and DJ Greyhound kept the dancing going all night. It was wonderful to see Gwen, her mother, as well as Sharyn and Matt again… and meet David and his amazing Children. I hope you enjoy these pictures. I had to leave at 10:30 to come back to the beach for a Sunday wedding. It was well worth the sleepless night, it was quite the perfect evening.

Only one regret… we didn’t know there was a Medieval Times about 8 minutes from the hotel… you know, the restaurant where you eat while there are knights jousting… I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go… but there’s only a few in the country… darn. Next trip!

Enjoy – Kelly

Connie and Mark

I’ve been working with Regent University for the past few years with a lot of different needs they have for photography… so when Connie asked me one day about a shoot Regent needed…. and then that she was getting married and wanted to talk about that as well…. I couldn’t have been more excited for her!

Simply put, the wedding was a perfect union of two souls who had found each other at last. Listening to their friends speak about them and their relationship there could be no doubt that the 2 of them are indeed planned for each other.

Connie, we’re going to miss you here in Va Beach… but I’m sure you’re going to love living in Hokie country. May your marriage be blessed.

Stacia and Mike

Stacia and I spoke back and forth for a bit before actually meeting to basically firm things up. When I did meet her, she had unfortunately just twisted her ankle… but I could tell from her personality then when she was in a lot of pain that I was in for a wonderful and amazing wedding with some wonderful and amazing people. Boy, was that an understatement! I met the girls in Town Center where they got ready and then we headed down to Seashore State Park for the ceremony. Perfect weather, gorgeous colors, golden water, and lots of determination and love…. Ahhh…. beautiful wedding.

Have I said lately how much I LOVE my job?

After the wedding we headed to Lighthouse on the Cove for a fabulous reception that had a perfect blend of their cultures. Like I said, fabulous… but you’ll just have to see for yourself.

Things to Remember on your Wedding Day…

I get to see and learn a lot about weddings when you are an intricate part of one every week…. So, I saw something happen this wedding season I don’t want to see happen to anyone else… so I’m putting it here on my blog in hopes I can save at least one person the stress…..

MAKE SURE YOUR PASTOR/MINISTER HAS YOUR WEDDING LICENSE!

Or, if they do not require it before the actual wedding day for their files make sure it is brought to the wedding site.

Also, if possible, choose a minister you know…

Here’s the backstory…. At a wedding I did the poor bride was already stressed about how the minister was saying he’d leave if they were more than 15 min. late…. So… she was stressed when she was ready but not everything else was. When she made it to the location of the ceremony (15 min late ;-) ) the pastor then decided to ask the groom… who had been there… with him for at least 30 min if not more…. to see the license… which was at home… on a shelf.

At that point as the bride is about to walk down the aisle the minister basically says the wedding is off, he can’t do it… he has to see the license to do it. Then, as a “fellow vendor” let me just say he was incredibly rude and unprofessional in his “dialogue” with the bride and groom about the matter as if he never wanted to be there anyways. After being incredibly unhelpful, waiting another 40 minutes, and finally accepting a photo of it via cell phones after a guest left the wedding to run to the house across the city to get it… the wedding happened as planned.

Lesson: As much as people joke about making sure you have the rings…. include the license with it. ;-)

Alex and Steve

I’m going to be having a chance to do a few photo shoots with Alex and Steve so this is just going to be the first of a few posts of fun!  Alex has some ideas of a fall shoot that I seriously cannot WAIT to do!  I promise, ask me to do something “crazy” or out of the box and I’ll be game!  I’ve had clients kiss in the fountain of the Norfolk Koi Pond, Run through a Trader Joes, and swim in the ocean in a wedding dress…. but I’ve not had a chance to do what Alex wants to do… so I’m excited!

Even though I am excited for the next shoot, I couldn’t be more pleased with this shoot.  We got so many different, fun, and fantastic images…. I think you’ll all enjoy…

Can’t wait till November… and May, Y’all!
