Travel Season is Approaching!

Late winter and early spring for me usually equals travel season. While I then will get some out of town weddings in the spring/summer, this travel season is more about personal enjoyment and creative rejuvenation.

I was supposed to go to Alaska in February to visit my best friend, however, I’m sorry. -30!? No thank you :-) Instead, I have some even better trips coming up!

March 2 I leave for….
LONDON!
Big Ben / Parliment / Tube
Ahhh….. my second home. I cannot express the joy I get when going to London. Can’t come soon enough!

THEN… as if London can’t be cool enough… I’m leaving London on the 5th and get to spend a week in……. not going to tell you! haha!
I will leave clues though!
1) I’ve never been there
2) Very multi-cultural
3) Not in the US (let’s be honest, I’m not leaving london to come back to the US for half my trip, that would be silly)
4) One of four remaining true city-states in the world
5) It will be a glorious 88 degrees when I visit
6) Skyline looks like this
cool destination

So…. where am I going!? The first person to guess correctly will win an 11×14 art print of my choosing from my trip to this location.
(please play fair, if I’ve already told you, let the others play ;-) )

Also, I’ll be at the Bridal Fair at the Waterside Marriott in Norfolk, VA this Sunday. Stop by and say, hello!

Greg and Sarah

I have the best clients in the world. And yes, I know, I say that all the time… but I can’t help it. It’s so true! So, get ready for a long post, I have a feeling I’m going to not only post a lot of photos, but write a lot too.

I first met with Sarah and her and Greg’s mothers what now seems like AGES ago! And without having done any engagement photos I don’t always now what to expect when I walk into a wedding with people you have barely met… However, from the moment I arrived at The Williamsburg Lodge where the bridal party was getting ready, they all welcomed me in like I had seen them yesterday. This is only the first of a huge long list of amazing qualities that are part of Sarah and Greg, and after witnessing both of their amazing parents and families, it wouldn’t surprise anyone. Both are amazingly close to their entire family. Sarah to her Mom and Dad (who I think almost wanted to steal the altar afterwards to renew their own vows :-) ) and sister, and Greg to his parents and 3 brothers. Both of them have had amazing role models of which they will base their own marriage and I can’t wait to see them as they grow in their own family.

The marriage took place at St. Bede’s in Williamsburg where their close family friend, Fr. Scott from the Arlington Diocese came down to say their wedding. He did an amazing job and said one of the most beautiful weddings ever. I also personally loved when he mentioned that in a few minutes, Greg’s chances of becoming yet ANOTHER Pope Gregory was going to severely diminish :-)

After what would prove to be one of the easiest and most relaxing (for me) formal sessions in the church, we all headed to Fords Colony for more photos and the reception. The father of the bride gave the best toast I have ever heard, The groom gave the bride and guests the best toast I have ever heard, the food was top notch, the cake gorgeous, and most importantly, everyone had an amazing time. The song list was the best I have heard and kept the dance floor full the entire night. They had The Janitors play and what a night they helped provide! They seriously did an amazing job! The whole night was an obvious celebration between family and friends. I could go on talking about how fun it was to watch Sarah’s mom dance to Soulja Boy or any of the other amazing parts of the night, but I think it’s time to introduce to the newlyweds.

Happy New Years!

New Years Eve was pretty huge over here. For one, my standard poodle Kodi turned ONE! Every year is going to be a big milestone for him as his health issues are not going to allow for a typically long poodle life. One my new years resolutions is to be more diligent about taking “real” photos and portraits of Kodi. Secondly, It’s the night of our annual friends Christmas and New Years Eve party.

I actually made myself bring my “real” camera around for these events as well as made myself shoot in Jpeg (not RAW) with the expectation of only using the “camera” to edit the photos. No photoshop, no lightroom edits, nada.

So, here’s my New Years post! Keep checking back because I’ve got my first wedding of 2009 tomorrow and some “best of 2008″ coming up!

Ok, remember the two that came in matching boxers? Well, they wound up winning “best dressed couple” and one of them had left to get his girl. So, when he came back and won he proceeded to drop his jeans to show the “PJs” Um, ya…
