VOW Bride – Wedding Published!

OK, so… some people were wondering what I kept saying a few weeks ago was “exciting and big” and was trying to get ironed out….

Joe and Natalia’s wedding is featured in the Fall/Winter issue of “VOW Bride!” The wedding happened just a few weeks before deadline for the mag and so I don’t think I could be any more grateful to Kim Wadsworth (the editor) for all our late night emails, file transfers, and deadline craziness in order to get it in there! She had chosen quite the handful of her favorites so it was also exciting to see which one’s made the final cut. Don’t they look great! You can see some of my original favorites on Joe and Natalia’s blog HERE.

Tim and Mary – Maggiano’s – Houston, TX

I traveled down to Houston, Texas to meet one of the best wedding clients of my year. I didn’t know it would be possible, but with every email exchanged, every conversation, I got more excited to meet Mary and Tim. Since I’m from The Woodlands on the north side of town, it also provided me a chance to go home and see everyone. That’s one reason I’m so excited to be offering special packages to Houston couples!

Tim is from Houston, Texas. Mary is from New Jersey. They met online playing Final Fantasy, and had a bit of a travel theme to their wedding. From the luggage tag table cards and flight number tables… it was an all around fun, affair.

We met early in the morning in Downtown Houston, which in July, is almost the only way to do it. Mary, Tim, and myself met up in the Theatre District and then went everywhere from some of the lovely parks to Houston Center, to The Downtown Tunnel system, Main St… and beyond. I think we covered about 1/2 of downtown! I also have to say, another great things about downtown Houston on weekends is that it’s so empty! Plus, you have the amazing underground tunnel system to duck into when it gets too hot!

After a few hrs of shooting Downtown (seriously, want great portraits on your wedding day? Give me 2 hrs ;-) ) we all went back to our respective places to clean and freshen up for the evening wedding. I don’t usually divide time like that, but I have to say, being able to take a shower after 2 hrs+ of shooting in Houston… Downtown… in July…. it was worth it!

For the Ceremony and Reception it was a small, intimate family affair at Maggiano’s down in Houston’s Galleria area. This amazing italian restaurant is part dining, part bar, part lounge, and a banquet facility as well. It’s a beautiful place and the food was utterly amazing. So, here is Tim and Mary.

Brock and Emily – Ascension – Virginia Beach

Brock and Emily got married yesterday, and I’ve already flagged 324 “favorites.” Yes, I know…. that will crash servers to post! So, while I agonize over cutting down the photos, here’s a sneak look at their wedding.

UPDATE!
I have a real blog post for them now! :-)

Brock and Emily’s wedding was truly something else. I met everyone at Church of the Ascension where the wedding and reception was held. Her twin sister who used to do events with one of the largest catering companies in the area was back in town to help and the food was delicious. The wedding was very focused however on the actual “wedding” that was taking place and the importance on God and the Sacrament of marriage was prevalent the entire day. It even took 3 priests to get them married! ;-) I really couldn’t say enough about Brock and Em if I tried… so I’m not going too.

My pack mule, Thad, did an awesome job helping me out… and emily too!

OK, I have to say… I had the BEST time doing formals! I usually wouldn’t say that as we usually are under incredible time restraints, pressure, and everyone is usually having a difficult time paying attention. After the wedding, at 7pm in July… it shouldn’t have been THIS perfect! First of all, the sky and light turned awesome! THEN, I’m told we basically have 15 minutes to do all the bridesmaid photos, entire wedding party photos, and the Bride and Groom portraits. Usually I reccomend allowing for at LEAST 20 minutes just for bride and groom portraits! EVERYONE was awesome though. I have to give all the credit to the wedding party. They focused, got things done, and we literally had one of the best formal sessions all year in 15 minutes in the back lot of the church! Seriously, God was good…

They had the “dip” down!

The awesome Steve and Alex were in attendance. We’re all looking forward to their upcoming Nuptials!

For their exit, the passed out candles to everyone gathered. They then stood in the middle of the circle while all their family and friends prayed over them and blessed their marriage. It was quite beautiful.

WHEW, that was a big post! I hope you enjoyed. If you did, please leave a comment below… and shoot, if you didn’t like it, let me know too! I love hearing from my readers, stalkers, and first time visitors.

Also, I will be in Houston and The Woodlands shooting from the 8th-14th. Thank you for your patience while I’m away from the office.

Jon and Mia – Virginia Beach

So, my regular readers know about my yearly trips to visit London and subsequently the rest of the world. These two, however, are even worse than me! Jon is from Northern England. Mia is from the United States. They met in Spain, live in Oslo, and got married in… Virginia Beach. After original plans and thoughts to marry in a few places around the world didn’t work, the decided on Virginia Beach as a middle point. Mia’s Aunt and Uncle live here with a gorgeous home on the water. Her parents are in California, Jon’s family in the UK. So, here they are… in the US. It doesn’t end there though! They are having receptions for family and friends in Spain, back home in Oslo, Northern England, and California. WHEW! And here you all though MY passport got a workout? I have nothing on the amazing travels of Jon and Mia.

The day was wonderful, and this small and elegant wedding had tastes from all over the world. In fact, part of Mia’s dress (the lacy part) has quite the story! You see, Mia (who wouldn’t fancy herself the kind to be “drawn” to an item of clothing) saw the dress in Spain and was very drawn to it. Not long after she met and began dating Jon, they walked by the boutique and Jon saw it and said, “Now, That’s a dress!” Wouldn’t you know it was the same one she had been drawn too? Well, Jon didn’t know, but she tracked it down, flew to Spain (man, I miss living in Europe) and picked it up. He was quite pleasantly surprised when she came walking down the aisle in it!

The rest of the evening, Jon and Mia couldn’t keep their eyes… or lips off each other. They are the perfect match for each other and I feel so blessed to be a part of their worldwide wedding tour. So, here you go, Jon and Mia.

Mia’s parents gifted her grandmothers ring to her right before the wedding.

The cake topper was made by Jon, himself!
