Alex’s Bridal Session – Portsmouth, VA

Alex and I met up before the wedding for a bridal session in her 2nd gown. We’re going to do a fearless session with her main gown so we set out before the actual wedding for some great shots of her other one. We had a blast and I don’t get to post a lot of bridals on here because we don’t want people to see them to early ;-) Now that the weddings over I thought you’d enjoy a brief selection of images.

Steve and Alex – Contemporary Arts Center – Virginia Beach, VA

Yay! Steve and Alex are finally married! Many of my regular readers have been through quite the journey already via my blog leading up to this day. Do a search in the above bar and you’ll see them on the blog… just a few times ;-) I love it though, it’s great to have so many wonderful images leading up to the big day… and it’s finally come… and gone! After so much rain and disgusting weather the past few weeks it was getting a little worrisome. We’ve shot in the rain together before… but wedding days are different… and the CAC offers so many fun area’s outside to take advantage of. The worries were needless though because Saturday was amazingly beautiful. Definitely a God given blessing. So… at last…. the wedding!

Alex dislocated her knee a few weeks ago so she found these awesome shoes for the reception!

So, there’s this one picture Alex actually took of me at a New Years party which is one of her favorites. I’ve got a bottle of Champagne in one hand, a glass in the other, and a noisemaker in my mouth… and she wanted a picture of me like that… so… in the limo she grabbed some champagne and a cup and did this on her own… I loved it… just because I knew she did it just for me ;-)

Um… So. Steve apparently has orchestrated some giant productions for when the minister asks for the rings. For one of his groomsmen’s wedding that even included a remote control helicopter to fly in the rings… so… these guys had some big shoes to fill for Steve’s own wedding. Let’s just say there were many objects involved including a cracker jack box… and one of the groomsmen ended up in a tree….

I loved that the groomsmen actually lifted Alex overhead! And… doesn’t Thad make such a great assistant!?

The carefully executed dog pile

Love the motion in big dresses!

Can you tell Steve’s a baseball player?

And of course… the groomsmen had to do a jig before they let Steve and Alex pass on to the car.

I’ve got some AMAZING bridal pictures to post later this week. It’s always hard to not share those immediately!

Jake and Jessica – Norfolk, VA

There’s a few reasons I’ve been looking forward to Jake and Jessica’s wedding. For one… Jessica bought a wedding dress and had it completely reconstructed. Secondly… it was an old hollywood theme… Thirdly… this non-navy couple had the hook-ups! The brides father is retired Navy and her mom is a civilian in the Navy. Because of this… and the fact that her duty is to support the families of the USS Ramage… we had the ability to go do portraits… on the destroyer! Um…. Ya.
I don’t think I can say much else except they are so absolutely amazing… and wonderful people. It was a wonderful time. We met at the Navy Exchange for makeup… went to the base church… and then Vista Point for the reception. One things for sure though, I’m loving some of the great sunset images we got on ship. Many thanks to the Navy as well as the officers of the USS Ramage for allowing us to invade the space and helping us along the way.

King of the world...

Of course, you gotta steer the ship ;-)

I personally loved how many different generations fully enjoyed the reception…. babies to grandparents… EVERYONE had a great time!

Happy Labor Day from the USS Ramage

I know, I know! It’s not “memorial day” however, I personally think we could always use an extra reminder to pray for and support our troops. That… and there’s the fact that this past 4th of July the media decided to cover “fireworks” and other “happy” news instead of relaying the message that on the very day we were celebrating our freedom, 2 US soldiers died to give us this right. The soldiers fighting to protect Zerok in a fire fight over 2 hours long celebrated 4th of July MUCH differently than we did here.

And yes, I know this must be cruel of me! I’ve tweeted all about this amazing wedding I had with Jake and Jess tonight… and our photo session on a Naval Ship… and no… this isn’t a picture of them!

While we were doing our session, we were alerted that it was time to do the colors. We all stopped, and honored our Nations flag at the conclusion of the day. Personally, I don’t think I could have rang in Labor Day any better this year ;-)

May God Bless our Nation and our troops… and you too!
